Why backups matter
A backup is a saved copy of your website or data that may help you recover from an accidental deletion, a software problem or a security incident.
What should be backed up?
Keep copies of your website files, databases, important configuration settings and any business-critical content. Email may need its own retention or backup plan.
What is included?
Backup options, retention periods, restore availability and storage charges depend on the services you purchase. Check your order and account details rather than assuming every file or email is covered.
Requesting a restoration
- Open a support ticket with the affected website or account.
- Explain what happened and approximately when the last good version was available.
- Describe what needs to be restored and whether new content must be preserved.
- Wait for our team to confirm which restore points are available and any associated charges.
Your own copy is important
For important sites, maintain an independent backup in addition to any service-provided backup. A backup is most useful when it has been tested.
